Recently, we’ve created even more self-preserving options, and they’re no longer limited to just solid items. The work behind creating these products is meticulous. It’s taken hours of experimentation and dozens of test products to find a way to combine ingredients to create an environment that inhibits bacterial growth without using synthetic preservatives.

In 2007, Lush Cosmetics invented a beautiful hand and body lotion called Charity Pot. 100% of the purchase price (every single penny minus the taxes) goes towards supporting humanitarian, environmental and animal rights causes locally and around the world.
Since its launch, Charity Pot has donated more than $15,000,000 to 850+ grassroots charities in 42 countries – and there are no signs of stopping! In fact, our new Charity Pot has been reformulated to contain seven ingredients from SLush Fund projects around the world. Our SLush mandate is simple: 2% of the amount we spend on raw materials and packaging is used to invest in sustainable farming and community projects from scratch.

Sometimes, Lush works with organizations to create limited edition LUSH products that go to helping those in need. We’ve handmade Lush goodies for the Vancouver Humane Society, Sea Shepherd Conservation Society and Freedom to Marry; and used 100% of sales (minus the taxes) to support their ongoing work. In August 2014, we partnered with the Discovery Channel’s Shark Week and Sharkwater filmmaker Rob Stewart to bring awareness to shark finning practices.
Lush also believe that charitable giving extends beyond monetary donations, which is why we strive to volunteer our time for charities that need hands-on support. We’re fortunate to have staff members with huge hearts – they frequently participate with Charity Pot partners at home and across the globe. In June 2014, our team of LUSHies lent a hand with Save the Rain in Tanzania, helping to build Rain Catchment Systems. Plus, in November 2012, we hosted ten lovely Lush customers on a volunteer trip to Gold Butte, Nevada to plant native species with our Charity Pot partners Friends of Nevada Wilderness. It’s the power of all of our people that will make a huge difference in the world.
